Control of effectiveness of corrosioon inhibitors in coastal buildings

About This Project

Development of various test techniques in order to determine the correct application and effectiveness of a last generation corrosion inhibitor, applied to the facades of two buildings located on the beachfront, exposed to the action of the marine environment.

Tests were carried out regarding the modification of the microstructure and the durability properties of concrete due to the application of the product, both in newly manufactured concrete slabs, as well as in existing slabs on the facades of buildings.

A test was designed to determine the penetration depth of the corrosion inhibitor, which made it possible to observe its advance in the concrete pore network.

Control points were strategically established to perform periodic measurements of corrosion potential and intensity and resistivity. These points were designed to be used in later years, so that the study has continuity over time.
